Entries in Wayne McGregor (2)

Something for your Friday. Beautiful clip of Wayne McGregor's (see Infra) new choreography, Atomos. Described as "atomising bodies, movement, film, sound and light into miniature shards of intense sensation". Definitely full-screen for this. Music is by neo-classical ambient composers, A Winged Victory for the Sullen. [NOTE: A Winged Victory for the Sullen records on the innovative and imaginative Erased Tapes label, as do two of my favorite musicians/composers, Ólafur Arnalds (see Near Light and Haegt, kemur ljósiá»—a) and Nils Frahm (see Nils Frahm)].

I am a big fan of Max Richter's music. Put it together with Lauren Cuthbertson and Ricardo Cervera from the Royal Ballet, the contemporary modern choreography of Wayne McGregor, and the LCD display animations of Julian Opie and the result is something truly sublime. The piece, called Infra, premiered in November 2008 at the Royal Opera House in London. [NOTE: Posted on Sunday afternoon to be enjoyed at a difficult moment (of your choice) on Monday].
