Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a convenient, albeit pricey, lay-over for many of my study sites in Southeast Asia (see The Sun Goes Down in Hong Kong). With an area of 420 square miles and a population of 7 million, this city-state is one of the most densely populated places in the world. Image above was shot out the window of a public bus on the way to my hotel after a 16 hour plane ride.

Gate 47

Spent most of the afternoon sitting on the floor at Gate 47 in the Hong Kong International airport drinking tea and waiting for my flight to Hanoi.  I was drinking the tea to stay awake after flying 16 hours from New York. [NOTE: The tea, a tall (small), English Breakfast from Starbuck's, was delicious.  My flight to Hanoi left on time].

The Sun Goes Down in Hong Kong

Was on my way back to New York from Yunnan, China. Had just arrived to my hotel in Hong Kong and pulled back the curtains to look out the window. The silhouette of the city in the background looked painted.
