The water tower at what used to be Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary (see Ai Weiwei at Alcatraz); now a public museum operated by the National Park Service. The Indian Occupation of Alcatraz lasted for nineteen months from November 20, 1969, to June 11, 1971. There were 400 people living on the island during the peak of the occupation.
