Confused

The buds on the Cornelian cherry (Cornus mas L.) outside of my office have started to swell in response to the balmy temperatures we've been having in New York this year. The species is known for its late winter flowering, but this seems dangerously early. [NOTE: This tree usually flowers before the Forsythia growing across the parking lot. Will be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming months].
