Roof Repair

The Kachin (see Roof Aesthetics 2) fix a leaky roof by adding fresh palm leaves. The entire roof is replaced every three to four years.

The Miao (see Roof Aesthetics) fix leaks by periodically replacing cracked or broken tiles, but the roofs of their houses can last for decades.

This traditional yet effective type of roofing is still used in many tropical parts of the world. Palm leaves and clay tiles provide excellent resistance to the elements of nature if installed skillfully. In addition, although the modern roofing we have today is a great improvement, the low cost of having these types of roofing is still an advantage.

Totally agree. And there's also the aesthetic and sustainability aspects of the use of natural materials in traditional roofing. Thanks for the comment.
