Typo

Sign at the entrance of the Kikori sawmill in Papua New Guinea (see Palms of Kikori, PNG and Living on a Log Raft). The information presented is correct and the sign is really quite nice. Just a little problem with the spelling of the word "sustainably". [NOTE: I was in the U.S. when they put up the sign. When I finally saw it, I remember I grimaced - and then complimented them on their initiative and told them how great it looked].

Elephant Lunch

Another shot of the Kachin elephants (see A Bridge Too Far, Bathing the Elephantand Standing Around). In this one, Aung Bu grabs some lunch on his way out of the forest. Gung Aung, the mahout, looks on wistfully as its probably time for his lunch, too.

1.1.13

I like to start the New Year off with a "smile" post. Like here. And here. Couldn't think of a better group of smiles for 2013 than those offered above by Susan Jion Postal and Dennis Shofu Myozan Keegan (see Myozan). [NOTE: I believe the photo is from the Dharma Transmission ceremony for Dennis in January 2011. Lot of smiles that day].
