Lao-Tzu (老子), a Chinese philosopher who lived in the 6th century BC, is generally thought to be the author of the Tao Te Ching (道德經), or Book of the Way. One of the real wonders of the world, I always find something useful here. This from Chapter 8 of the Stephen Mitchell translation:
In dwelling, live close to the ground.
In thinking, keep to the simple.
In conflict, be fair and generous.
In governing, don't try to control.
In work, do what you enjoy.
In family life, be completely present.
Have a balanced and serene weekend in accordance with the Tao.
