Advances in Economic Botany

Image above shows the cover from volume 8 (1990) of the monograph series, Advances in Economic Botany. This journal, and this issue especially, hold special meaning for me. The first yield studies for camu-camu (Myriciaria dubia HBK McVaugh; see Camu-camu), sacha mangua (Grias peruviana Miers; see Grias Predated and The Importance of Looking Down), and uvos (Spondias mombin L.; see Counting Uvos and Yield Studies) were reported here. This was the first, and only, scientific paper that Elysa and I wrote together. As indicated on the back cover (image below), Elysa also designed the cover and did the line drawings for this issue.

I have been the series editor of Advances in Economic Botany since 1993, and I spend a considerable amount of time reviewing manuscripts, badgering authors for their corrections, and copy editing questionable prose. [NOTE: Go here for a copy of the paper, "Fruits from the flooded forests of Peruvian Amazonia: Yield estimates for natural populations of three promising species"].

Hello my dearest Dr. C,
How wonderful to read this post and see this yellowed cover. I remember drawing this (in New Haven?) with the old light table.
