Reds and yellows and the glitter of diamonds and gold among the bicycles, street vendors, and rambutans on Hang Bac St. in Hanoi (see Morning on Hang Bac St). Am reminded, for some reason, of the line from the Sandokai that says "to be attached to things is primordial illusion". [NOTE: The Sandokai, or Identity of Relative and Absolute, is a poem written by the 8th century Chinese Chan master, Shitou Xiqian. It is chanted daily in Zen centers around the world].
