Spent the weekend marking trees for the 2012 harvest at Camp Deerpark in the lower Shawangunk Mountains of New York (see Elias Drops a White Pine). I have been involved with the forestry program at Camp Deerpark since 1997 (I was reminded this weekend). Good example of successful, small woodlot forestry.  The camp has its own Wood-Mizer sawmill, and the trees are sawn into boards to make cabins and furniture for the camp. The tops are turned into firewood for the boiler that heats everything. Great group of people doing good things with their forest. [NOTE: We marked about 160 trees including red oak, white oak, and white pine].
